Principal, Afterglow Climate Justice Fund

Candide Group leverages capital to support the transition away from an extractive global economy to one rooted in social justice and sustainability. We work with families, foundations, and other clients who want to align their money with these values, managing 100% impact portfolios that may include direct deals, funds, and innovative structures. Our work spans multiple sectors, with over 95% of the companies and funds in which we facilitate investments led by women and/or BIPOC as of May 2026¹. Since inception, we’ve facilitated investments into 169 companies and funds and currently advise or manage $509M in assets under advisement², reflecting our strong commitment to equity and inclusion both within our team and in the organizations we support.

As a Registered Investment Advisor, we focus on private assets, including debt, private equity, real assets, and new structures, where real capital needs intersect with opportunities for missionaligned impact (note: registration does not imply any certain level of skill or training). We recognize that achieving our vision requires pursuing multiple strategies, from transformative investing to active advocacy, campaign participation, and public engagement. As we continue to grow, we are deepening relationships with families, foundations, and institutions who want their capital working for justice, and we encourage candidates to review our portfolio page for examples of the projects and funds we champion.

Afterglow Climate Justice Fund:

First launched by Candide Group in 2024, the Afterglow Climate Justice Fund is a catalytic debt vehicle which provides debt capital to expand access to and/or ownership of affordable clean energy solutions in historically marginalized communities. Afterglow offers a solution where very few other lenders can, helping launch first-of-a-kind approaches to expanding access to distributed solar, storage and electric vehicle infrastructure. To date, the vehicle has raised $53M and deployed over $35M in catalytic project debt across 12 borrowers, with a goal of reaching a final close of over $70M in May 2026 and full deployment by March 2027. Building on the momentum with the current vehicle and the support of our investors, we are gearing up to launch a second vehicle in 2027.

The Position:

The Principal will be the most senior full-time member of the Afterglow team, and as such will play a pivotal role in designing and launching the second vehicle, while also working to finalize the deployment and management of the current vehicle.

The Principal will work closely with our CIO and Managing Director of Afterglow to hone and adjust Afterglow’s strategy in line with current trends, needs and opportunities in the climate justice sector. The Principal will then support and engage in fundraising efforts for the second vehicle, and (once launched) will be responsible for all aspects of strategy execution: deal origination, underwriting and structuring, vehicle management, asset management and investor communications.

This position is unique for an investment professional who is looking to play a leading role in an innovative climate justice strategy, with a deep commitment to impact, a flexible mandate and support from top tier impact first investors. The position will have a direct report to support origination, due diligence, and vehicle management, as well as access to an investment operations team, vehicle administration, and fundraising support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Deal Origination, Underwriting & Structuring

  • Finalize deployment of current vehicle in the first six to nine months of starting the position, shifting to second/follow-on vehicle once it is launched.

  • Actively source new opportunities that align with vehicle strategy, through investor networking, industry events or targeted outreach.

  • Evaluate and screen deals based on impact fit, financial feasibility and strategic alignment.

  • Independently conduct full due diligence, draft and present credit memos to the investment committee.

  • Negotiate and structure debt facilities, work with legal counsel to draft term sheet and loan documents.

Vehicle & Portfolio Management

  • Alongside our current vehicle administrator, investment operations team and Afterglow’s Investment Manager, monitor borrower performance for both the current and follow-on vehicle, as well as review and approve vehicle financials and support the annual audit.

  • Evaluate requests for loan amendments and recommend course of action.

  • When needed, engage with borrowers through loan restructurings and workouts.

  • Contribute to quarterly investor reports.

Vehicle Development & Strategy

  • Work alongside the Managing Director to develop and refine the strategy for the followon vehicle - identify project types and stages where Afterglow can play a role, as well as define loan products that Afterglow should be offering.

  • Support the design of a blended capital stack that will enable the vehicle to execute the agreed upon strategy.

  • Co-develop investor materials, such as investor decks, financial models, and term sheets.

  • Support investor outreach and fundraising efforts.

Representation & Thought Leadership

  • Represent Afterglow and the broader Candide Group team at industry events, conferences, and in direct meetings with prospective investors.

  • Share insights through thought leadership, presentations, and external communications.

Travel will be required approximately 15-25%.
